The horror week continues for Linden

The past couple of days have seen near continuous issues for Second Life. At time of writing, there’d been yet another update from Linden on the problems. Over the past twelve hours there’s been consistently high numbers of people logged in, coinciding with the US weekend load, which can’t be be helping matters.

On the positive side - disappearing Linden Dollar balances, disappearing water and other issues are not tending to create ongoing problems. I had a zero Linden balance on one login which was remedied the next login - similar to older issues in the same vein.

Well it's been a real damper of a week. But look on the bright side, it was a good way of getting people to cosy up to each other in their respective communities.

We also had a lot more newbies wander into Luskwood from across Ahern as a result of the problems with TP encouraging actual travelling with moving across distances. While some of these were ARable buffoons, I believe this was overall a bit of a good thing for us.

Yes well perhaps they should never update anything incase it becomes unstable?
Thanks to those people attempting to remedy the problems, I hope further testing will be involved next time or more smaller updates so it is easier to find problems.
My remedy has been to play less SL in last 24 hours as only thing I can do reliably is chat.

Yes, i've also had to lay low for a bit while they stabilize this stuff. I've also had to restrain myself from doing a lot of building or object creation for fear I'm going to lock up and have my work be for naught. As always, I'm confident that things *will* settle down into reasonable functionality, but it's a bit of a pain for now. It'll pass.

Nice to see some positive comments about the upgrade. For me, the key thing here is the version number: we're still on 1.x.
This tells me that SL is new. I don't think anything else quite like it exists. SL is still a child and it's growing up. As it grows, mistakes will be made; as long as lessons are learnt from those mistakes then that's fine. (Personally I defend my right to make mistakes). I'm amazed at what SL can acheive now and know that as it gets older, it will get better and better. The guys and gals behind SL work really hard on it and probably hate all issues more than any other user on the system; it's their baby and they are passionate about it. Well done to those people.

I agree with Dave 100%.

For myself, I know it will take some time to get the kinks ironed out, and I can be patient. I thnk it would be expecting a lot to have something this complex work perfectly out of the chute. I'm using this transition time as an opportunity to practice some in-world scripting, and I've already managed to learn some things that I am planning to implement once the grid stabilizes.
